Cake Smash Photography Kansas City | Zeb turns One

Zeb was in for his one year session and smash and we had a ton of fun. Cake smashes are always my favorite part of the one year session. I love decorating and planning them. And I love a really well rounded them like this one. As you can tell from a lot of my work, I enjoy working with themes and this one was no different. We did take some shots in the usual types of set ups. You have got to have a few of those. And then it was on to cake. Only this time Zeb didn’t really like his cake.

A lot of babies are like that, really. They seem to not love the texture and most haven’t had any sugary treats. Some will only eat the icing and some will only eat the cake. Don’t get me wrong, a few of them are all, “Cake!!!! Where have you been all of my life?!?!”

And then there are kids like Zeb. The kids that don’t want to eat, but really want to smash! He took the smash part quite literally. Once he realized that he could dig his little hands in and smoosh and smear he was as happy as could be. He didn’t even seem to notice when his mom snuck that hat on his head. A small price to pay to get to make a mess this big! Sure, I’ll wear the hat mom 🙂

The amazing cake was provided by my friend Nikki at The Cake Fairy out of Lee’s Summit. She does beautiful, quality work. It was a perfect match to the set up I had designed. I couldn’t have hoped better!
