Kansas City First Birthday | Robot Cake Smash
I had the great opportunity to photograph Brooks over his first year. He was one of my Baby Love clients and I looked forward to seeing that sweet face and bright eyes every four months. Baby Love is one of my favorite sessions our studio offers as it gives me an opportunity to create a relationship with clients and connect over the course of baby’s first year.
Brooks’ Baby Love plan included a four month session, a sitter session at eight months and a one year cake smash.
The four month session is currently an add on option to our Baby Love plan. It is a mini session that allows us to capture those sweet smiles and eye contact that aren’t part of the newborn session (unless you are Brooks, lol!). Baby is photographed on tummy, if able, but mostly on back photographed from above.
The sitter session can be shot at any time when baby is able to sit unassisted, so generally any where from 6-9 months. The sitter session is the first session in our Baby Love plan. These are often my most favorite as baby can really participate in the session. Small props like chairs, boxes and buckets can be incorporated. Clients often bring special props from home for a very personal touch. I have an extensive outfit and headband collection from Birdie Baby Boutique that baby girls can borrow from to wear for their sessions as well. I also allow clients access to my stash of hundreds of backdrops. They choose what they want to use and I give input when necessary.
Our final session in the Baby Love plan can be another portrait session or clients can choose to upgrade to a cake smash session. Most of my Baby Love clients choose this option. These sessions are so much fun. I work with parents to coordinate the set up to their chosen theme. I can also provide the cake. Our studio is currently partnered with Simply Sweet Cakes and Cupcakes. She can make the perfect cake to go with any theme. You can participate as much or as little as you like in the planning. You can bring things from home to incorporate (just like Brooks’ sign) or I can do it all and you can just bring the baby! It is all up to you.
Brooks’ momma had an amazing robot birthday party at home before our session and shared pics of her adorable decorations with me. I feel like our cake smash set paired perfectly with his party theme. And he absolutely loved his cake.
I couldn’t have hoped for a better ending to a wonderful year with one of the sweetest families. Thank you so much for choosing our studio Ambrie. It was such fun capturing all of Brooks’ milestones!
