Newborn Photographer KC | Star Wars Newborn Session | Yoda and Darth
I was so excited to shoot this unique themed newborn session. First of all, because little Eli’s momma is a very dear friend of mind and secondly because I really love working with props.
I should tell you that I only actually own the Yoda hat, made by my friend Bea from Sweet Pea Hats, and everything else belongs to Eli’s parents. So no, I don’t have a full adult sized Darth get up on hand at a moment’s notice. These things take time guys, and lots of preparation.
I know a lot of photographer’s wont’ do things like this because it isn’t inline with their vision or brand. I get that, but I guess I just am more concerned about fun. If I can shoot a session and have a great time, be creative and capture unique images that are perfect for a family then I am happy. I definitely don’t just pull this stuff out of nowhere and expect a family to love it. No way, but if you tell me that you really love Stars Wars and you want to really focus on capturing images that reflect that, then be ready. Because I am going to try and deliver. And can I just stress one more time that you have to let me in on the plan a couple months before the due date. And again, don’t be scared. I will not dress your baby up as Yoda without asking first 😉
We shot all of our Star Wars shots first and really dedicated time to getting them just right before we moved on to the regular stuff I usually shoot. So yes, Eli will have photos of him with Daddy just looking like his Daddy. We aren’t totally crazy.
And I want to give a shout out to big brother Oliver. Thanks for being so willing to dress as an Ewok and sit so perfectly still and smile at the camera all at the same time. I could have squeezed you, I was so happy. Sibling shots are tricky any way, then try putting a giant Ewok headdress on the kid…kind of unpredictable. But he rocked it!
Thanks for letting me have some fun guys, one of my favorite sessions to date!
