Newborn Photographer Kansas City | Brooks
I photographed Brooks’ older brother Ryder a couple years ago. I remember Ryder being sleepy and a very easy baby to pose. As well as very smiley. So much so that I even got a couple of open eye/smile images of him. Which is really rare. Generally, if I shoot long enough, I will manage to capture a smile. If you stare at the same baby face for 2-3 hours you are bound to get one. However, the open eye and smile combo just doesn’t happen much. Unless you are Ryder and Brooks.
When I photographed Ryder I had him in a little fox bonnet and a bucket, he opened his eyes and he gave me a grin. That image is hanging in the Centerpoint maternity word and I heard a rumor that it is a favorite.
Flash forward to Brooks’ session, I put him into the second pose of my flow. I shoot the womb pose right after I shoot froggy. It is called womb since it mimics the way baby is curled up inside momma. As I got Brooks settled in I could tell he might give me a smile so I settled in and waited. Got my focal point and held the camera still. His eyes fluttered open and he gave me the biggest grin ever. Click. Captured forever.
As a photographer it is such fun to build a relationship with a family and to have the opportunity to photograph the newborn sessions of siblings. It is really cool to know that both of those images will hang together in their home and I took them both.
