Baby Pictures Kansas City | Getting Back to Work

Baby Pictures Kansas City | Getting Back to Work

As I write this I am heading into the second month of my studio being closed due to Stay at Home orders by Jackson County.  As you all know the orders were recently extended, which I completely understand.  And I am certainly a rule follower so I have abided faithfully by what my state has required of me.  I can’t lie, it has been a struggle.

I have missed babies being born, that breaks my heart.  I have had many sitter sessions and cake smashes postponed.  And before we are through May I will have just as many outdoor sessions that need to be rescheduled as well.  I feel bad for my clients and sad for my business.  It is so rewarding owning your own studio and working your way to the top of your field.  I can’t think of anything I would rather do.  But oh my gosh it all came tumbling down so quickly.  I honestly don’t think I would have ever considered a virus would shut my world down so swiftly.

I do have to say though, every last one of my clients has been nothing less than amazing through this.  Everyone has been understanding.  There has been no anger, only patience.  Times like these can often be the worst in people.  I am so happy to know that the people in our client’s family are nothing but kind.  I truly appreciate every last one of you.

I am looking forward to the time when I can open my doors again.  When I can capture those memories for clients and do the only work that I truly have ever enjoyed.  Babies are my happy place and I am more than ready to get back there. I need it.  I am sure you all have something you are missing too.

A friend of mine recently invited me to participate in a positive message we could share with our clients.  Something that allowed us to show our support of the stay-at-home orders as well as our desire to work with our community again as soon as possible.

I have not met all of these women in person, but I have been in a small photography group with them on Facebook for going on 8 years.  I have learned so much and had so many laughs through this online community.  We have shared shooting spaces when traveling, offered advice on many things (personal and professional), I have bounced ideas off of them, learned better lighting and posing techniques, answered their questions when I could,  messaged and texted privately during troubled times.  Most recently we have shared Zoom meetings from our homes.  I have had the pleasure of meeting several of them in person. And I  have had the opportunity to hire them to photograph my own family.  I love this little space on the internet. It has been an important part of my photography journey.  This business is challenging and it is sometimes difficult to find true friends.  I love all of these women.

I have included links to their websites below the image in case any of these ladies might be in your area.  Please follow them on social media and if any of their work speaks to you book a session with them.  You won’t regret it.

Until we meet together in May remember: Stay safe and we’re excited to photograph you again.  Until then nap when they nap.  Love the Baby Photographers.
