🍼bringing home a baby in Kansas City?
Bringing home a new baby is one of the most exciting (and overwhelming!) times in life. Those first few weeks are a blur of snuggles, feedings, and little stretches-and it’s the perfect window to capture timeless newborn portraits. As a newborn photographer in Kansas City with over 16 years of experience, I know parents often wonder what they need to do to get ready for their session. The good news? It’s simpler than you think.

📆Book early
The best time to photograph your baby is typically within the first 10-21 days of life. Babies are still very sleepy and curled up during this stage, which makes posing easier and allows me to capture those sweet, dreamy images you love. I always recommend booking your session during your second trimester so we can reserve a spot around your due date.

🍼Keep Baby comfortable
A full, cozy baby photograph is best. Plan to feed your baby right before and maybe as soon as you arrive at the studio. I keep the space warm so your baby can stay comfortable and relaxed during the session. If you are nursing or bottle-feeding, don’t worry if we need to pause-it’s normal.

❤️what to bring (and what you don’t need to!)
You don’t have to stress about props, outfits, or backdrops-I provide everything you’ll need. From soft wraps and headbands to timeless studio set ups, it’s all taken care of. The only things you will need to bring are:
A pacifier for me to use in between poses to soothe, but only as needed.
A change of clothes for yourself if you want to stay comfy after family portraits are complete.
A blanket for me to wrap baby in to bring her to you for feedings.

📸family and sibling photos
Newborn sessions aren’t just about your baby-they’re about your growing family. Whether it’s parents snuggling their little one or siblings meeting their baby brother or sister, these are the photos that become family treasures. If older siblings are joining, I always start with family and sibling images so they can head out with a parent or grandparent once they are finished.

☺️Relax and trust the process
Every baby is different, and that’s part of the beauty of newborn photography. Some sleep soundly the entire session; others need more snuggles and breaks. My job as your baby photographer in Kansas City is to adapt to your baby’s needs and capture their unique story. The best thing you can do is relax and enjoy our time together.

💬Ready to book your Newborn Photos?
Your newborn session is about so much more than photos-it’s about preserving the fleeting details you’ll want to remember forever. My goal is always to create a relaxed, joyful experience while delivering images you will treasure for years to come.
